Malappuram, February 22: Kerala Police on Thursday arrested two students for allegedly putting up posters saying 'Freedom for Kashmir' in the premises of a government college in Malappuram. The students who have been identified as Mohammed Rinshad and Mohammed Faris were under section 124 (A) of sedition. After the arrest, the students of the college protested against the police action.

The arrested students are pursuing B Com from the government college and are part of the Radical Students Forum (RSF), reported The News Minute. The duo allegedly put up condemning violence against Kashmiri students after the Pulwama terror attack which killed 40 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel. PM Narendra Modi Skipped Food Post Pulwama Attack, Claims Report.

According to reports, classmates of the arrested students claimed that they were protesting against the attacks on Kashmiri students by Sangh Parivar workers. However, Malappuram DYSP Jaleel Thottathil told The News Minute that the sedition case was registered not for posters condemning the Sangh Parivar, but for demanding the liberation of Kashmir. As per Jaleel, the arrested students had stuck posters which read ‘Liberation for Kashmir, Liberation for Manipur and Liberation for Palestine. Meanwhile, total cases were reportedly registered against seven students of the college.

On Thursday, a 22-year-old man was sent to 14-day judicial custody by Assam’s local court for his pro-Pakistan comments. The man identified as Diloar Hussain, was arrested on Wednesday on charges of sedition by Assam Police for allegedly writing ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ in a comment on Facebook condemning the Pulwama attack.
