Pune: Woman Pours Fevikwik Into 9-Month-Old Nephew’s Mouth After Family Dispute
A nine-month-old baby in Pune was admitted to the ICU after his aunt allegedly poured super glue into his mouth following a family dispute, police said. The infant’s father, Altaf Nadeem Sheikh, filed a complaint against his sister Saniya Sheikh and two others. Doctors treated the child at Sassoon General Hospital, and police said the baby’s condition has improved.

A nine-month-old infant was admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) of a Pune hospital after his aunt allegedly poured super glue into his mouth following a dispute with her brother, police said. A case has been registered against the woman and two others based on a complaint filed by the child’s father.
According to police, the incident occurred amid an ongoing family dispute involving members of a joint family. The infant’s father, Altaf Nadeem Sheikh (39), alleged that his sister Saniya Sheikh used Fevikwik, a cyanoacrylate-based adhesive commonly known as super glue, on the child after an argument, India Today reported. Infant Rushed to Hospital After Mother Notices Symptoms
Police said the child’s mother, Zainab, noticed something was wrong when the baby started vomiting and his lips appeared to be stuck together. She immediately informed her husband, who rushed the infant to Sassoon General Hospital in Pune. Doctors admitted the child to the ICU and began treatment. Senior Police Inspector Manisha Patil said the infant’s condition has improved and that the child is recovering.
According to investigators, Altaf Sheikh and his brother live in a joint family and had reportedly been involved in an ongoing dispute. Police said that following one such argument, Saniya Sheikh allegedly carried out the act involving the infant. The allegations are part of the complaint filed by the child’s father, and police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident. The complainant further alleged that when the child’s mother confronted Saniya Sheikh about the incident, she was allegedly threatened with consequences if she revealed what had happened.
The complaint also stated that two other accused persons later visited the hospital and allegedly threatened the family against pursuing legal action. Police have registered a case against the accused persons and are investigating the allegations.
