A viral video from the Bundi district of Rajasthan has surfaced showing a youth being forced to lick the sole of a shoe as an apology for allegedly scamming local residents. The incident occurred in Kabri village under the Hindoli police station area after the individual was caught posing as a government official to extort money from women by promising benefits from welfare schemes. On Saturday, a youth identified by police as Manraj Prajapat, a resident of Rein village, arrived in Kabri claiming to be a Village Development Officer (VDO).
According to local reports, Prajapat approached several women, promising to fast-track their applications for the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) and other government welfare benefits. Rajasthan Shocker: 8-Year-Old Student Dies As Handball Goalpost Falls on Him in School.
Witnesses state that Prajapat requested payments ranging from ₹1,000 to ₹2,000 to cover "formal fees" for the processing of these schemes. Several women reportedly handed over cash before other villagers grew suspicious of his credentials and behavior.
Confrontation and Forced Apology
The situation escalated when a group of villagers confronted Prajapat, demanding to see his official identification card. Unable to produce any documentation, the youth reportedly confessed that he was not a government employee and returned the money he had collected. Instead of handing him over to the authorities immediately, the villagers decided to administer their own form of punishment. A video captured during the confrontation shows Prajapat being forced to lick the sole of a shoe three times while vowing never to repeat the act. The individual seen in the video filming the incident and enforcing the apology has been identified by police as Lokesh Meena.
Police Response and Investigation
The Hindoli police took notice of the incident after the video went viral on Sunday afternoon. Circle Inspector Mukesh Yadav confirmed that while the youth’s identity has been established, no formal complaint has been filed by the villagers regarding the scam, nor has Prajapat filed a complaint regarding his treatment.
"The individual identified as Lokesh Meena has been cautioned against taking the law into his own hands," Inspector Yadav stated. "While the youth admitted to the attempted fraud, we have not registered a formal case due to the lack of a complainant."
The police are currently monitoring the situation and investigating whether Prajapat has been involved in similar fraudulent activities in neighboring villages. Authorities have urged citizens to verify the credentials of government officials and report suspicious activity directly to the police rather than resorting to vigilante justice.
