Brother Rushes In After Hearing Screams
According to information gathered by police, the incident occurred around 11 am on Sunday. The woman's elder brother, Mustafa, rushed into the house along with neighbours after hearing her screams. Those who entered were shocked by what they saw inside.
The victim, identified as Rukaiya, was found lying on the bed in a bloodied condition, while the accused, Asgar Ali, was seen sitting over her and attacking her with a sharp weapon. Accused Turns Aggressive, Neighbours Alert Police
Eyewitnesses said people at the scene tried to stop Asgar Ali, but he turned aggressive toward them as well. As the situation worsened, those present stepped outside the house and immediately alerted the police. Within a short time, personnel from Manak Chowk police station reached the spot and took the accused into custody. Given the seriousness of the case, a Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team was also called to the scene. The team inspected the site and collected necessary evidence. The victim's body has been sent for a post mortem examination.
Victim Leaves Behind Two Children
Rukaiya is survived by a two year old son and a seven year old daughter. News of the daylight killing sent shock waves through the locality soon after it surfaced. A large number of local residents and members of the Bohra community gathered at the scene.
Motive Yet To Be Established, Say Police
Police said the exact motive behind the killing has not yet been established. Station in-charge Vikram Singh Chouhan said evidence has been collected from the crime scene and the accused is being questioned. Investigators expect the reasons behind the killing to become clearer once the interrogation is complete.
