At least nine people have died and over a dozen remain hospitalised after allegedly consuming spurious liquor in Madhya Pradesh’s Sagar district. The incident occurred overnight between Saturday and Sunday in Baraj village, located under the Banda tehsil.

According to local authorities, a group of residents consumed the suspected toxic alcohol on Saturday evening. Shortly after, several individuals complained of severe nausea, chest discomfort, and vomiting. Excise department teams arrived at the scene shortly after the tragedy and seized samples from a local vendor to test for illegal chemical adulteration.
