Jammu, July 10: One of the two terrorists killed in Kashmir's Shopian on Tuesday has been identified as Babar, a JeM commander of Pakistan origin, the Jammu and Kashmir Police informed. A total of two militants were killed and over 20 civilians were injured in Shopian on Tuesday morning following an encounter with security forces.

Reports inform that a young man, identified as Tamsheel Ahmed, was injured in clashes and later succumbed to his injuries in the hospital.  Reports inform that the security forces surrounded Kumdalan village after receiving a tip-off about holed-up militants.

Two army men have also been injured during the encounter.  Jammu and Kashmir police chief S P Vaid confirmed that the encounter and said the dead bodies of two militants were recovered from the spot. Vaid claimed that this was a Jaish-e-Muhammad group.

According to reports,  protesters hurled rocks at the security forces deployed in the village following a gunfight. Meanwhile, the forces retaliated with firing live ammunition, pellets and tear gas to chase away the protesters. Details by Police inform that at least twenty youth were injured during the clashes and were shifted to various hospitals for treatment.
