Sonam Wangchuk Says Ready To End Hunger Strike in New Video Message, Shares Condition for Calling Off Fast
Social activist Sonam Wangchuk has released his first video message after being shifted to Medanta Hospital in Gurugram, saying he is ready to end his 25-day hunger strike if the government assures that force will not be used against protesting students and cases filed against them are addressed. Wangchuk said he has lost around 11 kg but is doing well and praised the students leading the protests.
Social activist Sonam Wangchuk has released his first video message after being shifted from Delhi's Safdarjung Hospital to Medanta Hospital in Gurugram, saying he is prepared to end his hunger strike if the government provides assurances regarding the use of force against protesting students and the cases registered against them.
Wangchuk, who has been on a hunger strike over the alleged NEET paper leak, said it is the 25th day of his fast and that he has lost around 11 kilograms. Despite the weight loss, he said he is doing well and thanked students participating in the ongoing protests.

Ready To End Hunger Strike Under This Condition
In the video message, Wangchuk said he is willing to call off his fast if the government gives assurances on two key issues, no use of force against students and action regarding the cases filed against them.
His remarks come amid continuing protests by students demanding accountability over the alleged examination irregularities.
‘I Am Still Alive’: Wangchuk Shares Health Update
Providing an update on his condition, Wangchuk said: "I am still alive; this is the 25th day of my hunger strike. By day 25, I have lost approximately 11 kilograms and have lost a lot of muscle mass, but I am doing well. Last night, I was transferred from Safdarjung Hospital to a private hospital in Gurugram."
The activist said he continues to receive medical care after being shifted to the Gurugram hospital.
Praises Students Protesting In Delhi
Wangchuk also praised the students who have been participating in the protests in Delhi, expressing appreciation for their commitment to the movement. He reiterated his support for the students and their demands while continuing to appeal for a peaceful resolution.
Shifted To Medanta After High Court Order
Wangchuk was recently shifted from Safdarjung Hospital to Medanta Hospital in Gurugram following permission granted by the Delhi High Court.
He remains under medical supervision while continuing his fast, although he has now indicated his willingness to end it if the government responds positively to his conditions.
