Passersby and witnesses alerted the local authorities, following which a team from the Delhi Police arrived at the spot. Emergency medical personnel transported both individuals to a nearby hospital, where doctors pronounced them dead upon arrival. Police have taken the vehicle driver into custody and impounded the Mahindra Thar involved in the crash. Officers are currently conducting a preliminary investigation to determine if the driver was under the influence of alcohol or if mechanical failure contributed to the incident. CCTV footage from surrounding intersections is being retrieved to reconstruct the exact sequence of events leading up to the collision. Authorities are also in the process of identifying the victims and informing their family members. Road safety concerns in the national capital region have intensified following a series of speeding and hit-and-run incidents involving high-performance SUVs in recent months. Further legal proceedings and an official inquiry under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) are underway.
