Kolkata, January 27: Media secretary of Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JaSad) of Bangladesh, Syed Saymoon Kanak was killed after a wild elephant trampled him to death in West Bengal on Friday. The incident reportedly happened when Kanak was returning from the safari.

The elephant drew Kanak Saymon with its trunk and flung him away when he went close to the jumbo to take a photo.

The politician came to the forest with friends and had checked in at a resort in Jhalong.

They came to Lataguri for a jungle safari and the incident occurred on the state highway between Murti Bridge and the road leading to a Chandrachur watch tower. Forest Minister Binay Krishna Barman and Tourism Minister Gautam Deb termed the incident as 'unfortunate'. The family of Kanak is in shock after the incident. (With Agency Inputs)
