Thiruverumbur, October 8: In a horrific incident, a man in his tricenarian, allegedly beheaded his wife after she refused to have sex with him. The incident was reported in Thiruverumbur town of Trichy district in Tamil Nadu. The accused has been identified as Sankar Sagayaraj and was arrested by police and remanded to judicial custody. According to a TOI report, the duo got married in January this year. Few weeks after the marriage, the couple started fighting. One of the major reasons for the quarrel reportedly was Sagayaraj's irregularity at work. A few months ago, Sagayaraj mortgaged Jesintha's 2.5 sovereigns of gold jewellery without her knowledge, which raised the dispute between the two.
Fed up with husband's behaviour, Jesintha went to her parents' home in Thanjavur district two months ago. On September 30, Sagayaraj with his parents went to Jesintha's home, comforted her and brought her back. On Saturday night, the duo had a fight when she refused to have sex with him. In a heated rage over the denial, at around 2 am, when Jesintha was sleeping, Sagayaraj tried to strangle her and beheaded her. Police have arrested the accused on the charges of murder and remanded him to the judicial custody
In a similar incident earlier this month, a mentally disturbed man from Jodhpur allegedly killed his wife and son, and tried to commit suicide but couldn't gain the courage for the act. The man killed his 8-year-old son and wife with a stone-cutter. The reason for committing the crime is not yet known and the police have taken the accused into custody for further investigation.
