Sivakasi, January 24: In a shocking incident, an eight-year-old girl was raped and murdered by a 20-year-old man at Kongalapuram village in Tamil Nadu's Sivakasi town. The accused, a native of Assam, has been arrested by the police on Thursday, January 24, Hindustan Times reported. The minor went missing on Monday and her body was recovered a day later. According to the police, the Class 3 girl used to go to her father's workplace after school and on the day of the incident she had gone there. The minor was untraceable after she went to relieve herself. When she did not return for a long time, her family and relatives started looking for her. Later they filed a police complaint. Taking swift action, police detained six migrant workers and started questioning them. “During a grilling by the police, 20-year-old Majid Ali admitted to having committed the crime when the girl had come out for relieving herself,” an investigating officer said.
