A man has been taken into custody for allegedly killing his four-year-old twin daughters in Karimnagar, police said on Friday, April 3. The accused, identified as Kachhu Srisailam, is suspected of drowning the children in a well following ongoing family disputes.
The incident occurred in the Jubilee Nagar area under Karimnagar Rural limits. According to police, the accused had frequent arguments with his wife, Mounika, reportedly over his dissatisfaction with having daughters instead of a son. Police said that on Friday evening, after another dispute, Srisailam allegedly took the children, Geethanshi and Geethanvika, to agricultural fields on the outskirts of the village.

Villagers who learned about the incident apprehended the accused and handed him over to the police. He is currently in custody, and further legal action is underway.
Officials from Telangana Police said a detailed investigation is being conducted to establish the exact sequence of events. Investigators are also examining whether the children were given a poisonous substance before being thrown into the well.
Circle Inspector A. Niranjan Reddy said preliminary findings point to repeated family disputes as a possible motive. Authorities are reviewing all evidence, including post-mortem results. Assistant Commissioner of Police Vijay Kumar visited the site and assessed the situation.
Heavy police deployment has been made in the area to maintain law and order following the incident. The case has raised concerns among local residents, with many expressing shock over the deaths.
