Hyderabad, June 23: In a disturbing incident, over 50 dogs were killed in Telangana by a Vikarabad Municipal council. Some carcasses of the dogs were also found buried at a landfill on the outskirts of the city. Police also found some carcasses piled on top of one another on a trailer truck. HC Expresses Concern over Violating Rules on Animal Transport.

According to a report published in NDTV, a resident of the area filed a police complaint. After which an FIR under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act was registered against the municipal commissioners and other officials in connection with the case. The police have sent the carcasses to a veterinary lab to find out reason how the dogs were killed.

A similar incident was surfaced last year in October. Over 100 strayed dogs were found dead after been poisoned by unidentified assaulters near Infosys campus situated near Sanskruti Township in Annojiguda. The matter came to light when volunteers of the Compassionate Society for Animals (CSA) were alerted.
