Mumbai, February 15: Hours after the deadly attack on a CRPF convoy in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama district, authorities conducted a counter-terror mock drill at DMart mall in Virar to check security preparations in times of emergency. The video of the anti-terror mock drill, however, went viral on social for a wrong reason. Uninformed people are circulating the video of mock drill claiming that a terror plot was foiled in Mumbai followed by the arrest of a terrorist.

The mock drill, which went on for three hours, triggered panic among Mumbaikars and residents of Pune and other areas of Maharashtra. The video is going viral on WhatsApp, Twitter and other social platforms with people sharing false information about the arrest of a terrorist. People who witnessed the mock drill from outside the DMart mall recorded the video and shared it assuming that a real terror plot was unearthed. Curfew Imposed in Jammu, After Protest Against Pulwama Terror Attack Turns Violent.

The fact is it was a counter-terror mock drill conducted at DMart supermarket by the Palghar district police along with Riot Control Police (RCP) and Quick Response Team (QRT). Cops in uniform are seen catching a dummy terrorist in the video. The drill was carried out to test the anti-terror response of the policemen in the wake of the terror strike in Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday.
