The video, reportedly recorded by a commuter, appeared to show a rat eating a tomato stored at the food counter inside the waiting room area on Platform No. 2. The footage circulated widely on social media, raising concerns about hygiene and food handling practices at the station.

Stall Closed, Fine Imposed
Railway authorities ordered the closure of the multipurpose stall for seven days and imposed a penalty of INR 15,000 for violating food safety and hygiene norms.
Officials said the action was taken to ensure compliance with prescribed cleanliness standards and to protect passenger health.
Railways Stress Hygiene Standards
Central Railway said food vendors operating on railway premises are required to follow strict hygiene and sanitation guidelines.
