Kolkata, April 29: In a letter to Election Commission of India (ECI), the Trinamool Congress has written that central forces deployed in election duties are acting as a behest of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders and alleged that they have terrorised voters to cast their votes in favour of BJP. The TMC alleged that central forces are acting in such a manner that is not conducive for free and fair polls. BJP MP Babul Supriyo to Face FIR For Trespassing Into Asansol Polling Booth: Election Commission.

"Since after the deployment of central forces there was various instances where at the instruction of the leaders of the BJP, the Central Forces have acted in a manner which is not conducive to free and fair election within the state of West Bengal. After the clashed erupted between BJP and TMC supporter over allegations of electoral malpractices, the security forces had resorted to lathi-charge at a polling station in Asansol Lok Sabha constituency. There were reports of altercations between BJP, TMC and CPI (M) from several polling stations in the constituency. BJP leader Babul Supriyo also had an altercation with polling officer alleging that workers of Mamata Banerjee's party were capturing polling station and not letting people cast their votes.

"Central forces have created a reign of terror in the minds of voters and they have also urged the voters to cast their vote in favour of the BJP. The Central forces, in a motivated and pre-conceived manner, have resorted to firing within the polling booth thereby creating fear in the mind of the voters so that they are restrained from casting their votes," the statement read.

TMC also alleged that Union Minister Babul Supriyo and other BJP candidates are threatening polling officers at various booths. Later, the EC directed police to register an FIR against Babul Supriyo for allegedly trespassing into polling booth number 199 in Asansol and threatening a polling agent and an officer, confirmed West Bengal Chief Electoral Officer.
