‘Tricolour Is Our Pride’: PM Narendra Modi Calls for Public Participation in ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ Campaign

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday called on citizens across India to actively participate in the nationwide "Har Ghar Tiranga" campaign ahead of the country's upcoming Independence Day celebrations. Describing the national flag as a constant source of inspiration, the Prime Minister linked public involvement in the movement to the broader national goal of building a developed India, or Viksit Bharat.

Writing on social media platform X, PM Modi emphasized the symbolic weight of the Tricolour in uniting the nation. "Our Tricolour is our pride and a constant source of inspiration to always give our best for the nation. Let us participate enthusiastically in the #HarGharTiranga movement and renew our collective resolve to contribute towards building a Viksit Bharat," he posted. The 2026 edition of the campaign holds added historical significance, as it coincides with the 150th anniversary of India's national song, Vande Mataram. PM Modi expressed satisfaction that this year’s patriotic efforts are dedicated to honoring the song's legacy, which played a pivotal role during India's freedom struggle.

Running nationwide from August 9 to August 17, the initiative features a wide array of public events, including Tiranga rallies, bicycle and bike processions, cultural concerts, street decorations, and illuminated landmark displays. The Ministry of Culture has encouraged the public to hoist the flag at home and share their photos on the official campaign portal (harghartiranga.com) under the popular "Selfie with Tiranga" initiative. First launched in 2022 under the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav initiative, the "Har Ghar Tiranga" movement has evolved into one of the country's largest public participation campaigns, aiming to foster a personal connection between citizens and the national flag while honoring the sacrifices of freedom fighters.
