Chennai, July 24: A case of triple homicide stunned Tamil Nadu on Tuesday. Unidentified assailants murdered former Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) mayor Uma Maheswari, her husband and domestic help in a daylight attack in Reddiyarpatti town of Tirunelveli district. The triple murder came to light when the domestic help's mother came searching for her daughter at Uma Maheswari's house. Transgender Beaten to Death on Suspicion of Being Child Lifter in Jalpaiguri.

Uma Maheswari was Mayor of the Tirunelveli Corporation between 1996 and 2001. According to the police, Maheswari, her husband Muruga Sankaran (65) and a woman domestic assistant were killed by the assailants at her residence here around 3 pm. Around 4:30 pm, the maid's mother came at Maheswari's residence to inquire about her daughter and found their bodies lying in a pool of blood, reports said. Man Lynched on Suspicion of Being Cattle Thief in Tripura.

The police suspect a property dispute could be the reason behind the triple murder. However, cops were investigating all angles as the safe in the house was found broken. Tirunelveli Police Commissioner also visit the crime scene and supervising the probe into the matter.
