Triple Talaq: Woman Alleges Husband Divorced Her Over Phone Over Dowry Demand

New Delhi, October 12: A woman in her thirties from Dadri’s Nai Aabadi has alleged that her husband gave her Triple Talaq on phone by saying Talaq three times. She also alleged that the reason for the divorce is a failure to pay dowry. An FIR has been registered against the accused husband and his family on the woman's complaint. According to the police, Salma had married accused Nadeem, a scrap dealer, a year ago. After marrying Nadeem, she was staying with his five-member family including his mother, brother and two sisters. She also stated that her in-laws were unhappy with her and often used to bully her.

Salma, while explaining her ordeal to police, said that Nadeem had asked for Rs 2.5 lakh to buy an autorickshaw and forced her to call her parents. After her brother came to solve the issue, her husband and his family argued and told them to take Salma and not to return without money.

On September 13, her husband called her and gave her triple talaq on phone. Later, she filed an FIR on Wednesday against Nadeem, his mother, sister and brother under the section of 498A, 504, and 506 of IPC and relevant sections of Dowry act.
