Lucknow, December 29: A constable with Uttar Pradesh (UP) police, Suresh Vatsa, was allegedly killed in a stone pelting incident by a mob in Ghazipur district of Uttar Pradesh. Suresh Vats was deployed at Karimuddinpur police station in Ghazipur. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had addressed a rally in Ghazipur today, on Saturday morning.

This is the second incident in a month, where a police official has been allegedly killed by a mob. On December 3, a mob of at least 400 people violently rampaged in Siyana village after cattle carcasses were found in the nearby area. The ensuing mob in Bulandshahr claimed the life of a Police inspector Subodh Kumar Singh and Sumit Kumar, a local resident. The Special Investigation Team (SIT) investigating Bulandshahr violence has arrested the alleged killer of Inspector Subodh Kumar Singh on Thursday. The accused, Prashant Natt, was arrested from the Bulandshahr-Noida border. As per the Uttar Pradesh Police, the accused has confessed to his crime. Natt is a taxi driver and hails from Chingrawthi village. Bulandshahr Mob Violence: UP Police Arrests 2 Suspects in Subodh Kumar Singh’s Murder Case, Detains 4 Others.

"Prashant Natt has accepted that he shot inspector Subodh Singh. We are interrogating him and expecting more facts about the incident to emerge," reported NDTV quoting Senior Superintendent of Police, Bulandshahr Prabhakar Chaudhary as saying. The UP police has also identified the man who allegedly snatched the service revolver of the inspector. He has been identified as Johnny and is a resident of Bulandshahr. The names of both Natt and Johnny were not named in the FIR which was filed in connection with the killing of Singh.

The police saw these two accused together while examining the video of the violence. After which the police launched a manhunt operation to nab them. Earlier, the state police named Bajrang Dal Member, Yogesh Raj, as the main accused in the mob killing. Raj has been missing, since the incident. He is still the main accused in instigating the mob in Bulandshahr, reported NDTV. Another accused who was named in the FIR was an army man Jitendra Malik. He was arrested on December 9 and is currently in judicial custody.
