A 33-year-old property dealer and his pet Labrador were found dead in a rented apartment in Bareilly on Wednesday, April 22. Authorities believe the man, identified as Nikhil Arora, poisoned his dog before taking his own life due to mounting financial pressure and debt. Local police discovered the bodies after friends raised concerns when Arora failed to show up for a scheduled dinner engagement.

The investigation revealed that Arora had been struggling with significant financial hardship following the medical expenses incurred during his parents' illnesses. To manage the costs, he had recently sold his family home and moved into a rented property. According to investigators, the transition and the remaining debt burden had caused him severe mental distress in the months leading up to the incident. Amravati S*x Scandal: Minor Victim Attempts To Die by Suicide at Vazhar Dam, Cops Stop Her in Time.

The incident came to light after Arora’s friend, Dheeraj, became suspicious when Arora did not arrive at his house for dinner as planned. When Dheeraj and other acquaintances visited the apartment, they found the door locked from the inside and received no response.

Upon arriving at the scene, police forced entry into the premises. They discovered the bodies of Arora and his dog, Premi, lying next to each other. Forensic teams recovered empty packets of buttermilk and a container of sulphas, a highly toxic aluminum phosphide pesticide typically used as a grain fumigant. Tirupati Tragedy: Man Kills Wife and Mother, Dies by Suicide on Track; 2 Children Crushed by Train While Trying to Save Him.

Preliminary police findings suggest that Arora mixed the toxic tablets into buttermilk, which he then fed to the dog before consuming the mixture himself. Neighbors and acquaintances noted that Arora was deeply attached to Premi and lived alone with the animal.

Local residents suggested that Arora’s decision to poison the dog likely stemmed from his fear that the animal would have no one to care for it following his death. Police officials have confirmed that both bodies have been sent for post-mortem examinations to finalize the cause of death.

Bareilly police are currently recording statements from Arora’s friends and business associates to further understand the extent of his financial liabilities. While the evidence points toward a planned suicide-homicide involving the pet, the investigation remains open pending the results of the forensic reports.
