New Delhi, August 4: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) parliamentarian Subramanian Swamy on Sunday warned the Indian government that the United States of America (USA) could help Pakistan on Kashmir issue. According to Swamy, the US is distressed that India refused to send its forces to take responsibility in Afghanistan. The BJP MP said that the US is discussing with Pakistan to influence the Taliban. India Reiterates Position on Kashmir as US Offers to Intervene Again,'Will Resolve Issue Bilaterally With Pakistan.

Swamy took to Twitter and wrote, "US is desperate to leave Afghanistan-on a deal withTaliban, and distressed that India refused to send troops to take responsibility in Afghanistan, is discussing with Pak to influence Taliban to comply in return for US helping Pak in Kashmir. Beware!” The BJP lawmaker's statement came days after US President Donald Trump offered mediation in Kashmir Issue. Donald Trump's Mediation Offer: Kashmir Bilateral Issue Between India And Pakistan, Says US in Damage Control.

Subramanian Swamy's Tweet:

Earlier this year, expressing dissatisfaction over New Delhi's decades-old role in the Afghanistan peace process, US President Donald Trump mocked India's efforts in building infrastructure in Afghanistan. He had said, "I could give you an example where I get along very well with India and Prime Minister Modi. But he is constantly telling me, he built a library in Afghanistan. Library! That's like five hours of what we spend (in Afghanistan)."

During Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan’s visit to the United States, Trump had claimed that Indian PM Narendra Modi had also asked him to act as a mediator in the Kashmir issue. However, India rejected the claims of Trump. A day after Trump’s statement, on July 23, the US State Department clarified that Kashmir was a 'bilateral' issue between India and Pakistan.

Almost a week after, the US President again offered to mediate in the Kashmir issue. The US President told the media that he could mediate in the matter if Indian and Pakistan wanted him to intervene. Responding to Trump’s External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar told US Secretary of State, Michael Pompeo that India would prefer to solve the issue with Pakistan bilaterally.
