Amroha, August 13: Part of the roof of a primary school in Amroha's Mehndipur Village collapsed in Uttar Pradesh on Monday. According to a report by ANI, the roof collapsed after the plaster of a room in the school came out. The report informs that the room has been closed and is not used by the students.

Gautam Prasad, Basic Shiksha Adhikari was quoted by ANI saying that the roof of a room which otherwise remains closed collapsed two-three days back. “The principal saw the collapsed roof when he came to visit it. We have visited the spot. Action will be taken against the teacher who got this room constructed”, Prasad further added.

Amid incessant rains in Uttar Pradesh, at least 774 people have been killed in separate rain-related incidents in seven states during the monsoon season so far, the Home Ministry said today. According to details by Home Ministry's National Emergency Response Centre (NERC), 187 people have lost their lives in Kerala, 171 in Uttar Pradesh, 170 people in West Bengal and 139 in Maharashtra due to the floods and rains.

As many as 52 people lost their lives in Gujarat, 45 in Assam and eight in Nagaland. A total of 27 people were also missing in Kerala (22) and West Bengal (5), while 245 others received injuries in rain-related incidents in the states.

In a separate rain-related incident on Monday, five members of a family, including three children, were injured when a part of a house collapsed in Nimayu village in Uttar Pradesh's Muzaffarnagar. The incident occurred last evening under Charthawal police station. In another incident, over 4,000 chicks were killed when the wall of a poultry farm collapsed during rains in Gharidolat village of Shamli district yesterday. According to reports, the loss was estimated to be worth to lakhs of rupees.
