Uttarakhand: 9-Year-Old Boy Dies in Knife Attack During Badminton Game
A minor disagreement over a badminton game ended in tragedy in Uttarakhand’s Udham Singh Nagar district when a young boy was allegedly stabbed to death by his playmate following a quarrel.
A nine-year-old boy died after his 11-year-old friend allegedly stabbed him during a dispute while the children were playing badminton in Jaspur, Uttarakhand’s Udham Singh Nagar district, police said. The accused minor has been taken into custody, while investigators are examining CCTV footage and questioning people who witnessed the incident, India Today reported.
Dispute Over Shuttlecock Escalates
The incident took place in the Chhipian locality of Jaspur, where the two boys were playing badminton with other children. According to the preliminary police account, the shuttlecock fell into a nearby drain during the game. Police said the two children exchanged blows during the quarrel. The nine-year-old allegedly struck the 11-year-old with a badminton racket before the older child reportedly pulled out a knife he was carrying and stabbed him in the chest.
Victim Collapses While Seeking Help
After sustaining the injury, the nine-year-old reportedly managed to reach a medical shop across the road. However, he collapsed and became unconscious before receiving treatment. His family rushed him to a hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead, according to the report.
