According to the Uttarakhand Police, a devotee from Noida, Uttar Pradesh, was bathing at Kangra Ghat in Haridwar when he was suddenly caught in the swift and powerful flow of the river. As the man began to drift away, panic ensued among onlookers at the riverbank. Following a strenuous effort against the powerful current, the jawan managed to reach the young man and bring him safely back to the shore. "A Noida (UP) resident Shiva devotee began to be swept away in the swift current of the Ganga while bathing at Kangra Ghat in Haridwar.
