Leaving behind a lucrative corporate career and an annual salary package of around INR 46 lakh as a cloud engineer at Amazon, 27-year-old Shardendu Tiwari of Lucknow is set to be commissioned into the Indian Army at the Officers Training Academy (OTA) in Gaya, Bihar.

Who Is Shardendu Tiwari

Shardendu Tiwari is a 27-year-old engineering postgraduate from Lucknow's Neelmatha area, with family roots extending to Pipergaon in the Sultanpur district. Shardendu completed his schooling at Kendriya Vidyalaya, Chandimandir, before earning a Bachelor of Engineering in Information Technology and an MTech in Computer Science and Information Security from Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh. Before his selection for the military, he worked as a cloud engineer and also held an employment opportunity with the global aerospace company Airbus.

Educational Background and Perseverance

Shardendu's academic trajectory combined advanced information technology with a persistent ambition to join the armed forces. Despite securing high-value corporate placements following his postgraduate studies, he appeared for Army selection eight times before successfully clearing the process.

Transition to Military Service

He secured his selection through the technical entry route, which allows engineering professionals to serve in specialised military roles while utilising their core technological expertise.
