A 65-year-old retired Army personnel was found dead at his residence in Rajasthan's Anupgarh, leaving behind an eight-page suicide note in which he alleged prolonged mental harassment by three individuals and accused one of them of being a "Pakistan spy." Police have launched an investigation, stressing that the allegations made in the note are yet to be verified.
According to police, Amar Singh died by suicide at his home on Saturday, August 1. Officers reached the scene, completed legal formalities and sent the body for a post-mortem examination, News18 Hindi reported. After the post-mortem was conducted on Sunday, the body was handed over to his family. Suicide Note Mentions 'Pakistan Spy'
In the eight-page note, Amar Singh alleged that three individuals had been mentally harassing him for a prolonged period.
He claimed that one of them repeatedly sought sensitive information related to the Indian Army and military activities. The final page of the note urged police to take strict legal action against those he held responsible for his death.
Singh also wrote that he feared he could be abducted to obtain military information and claimed that the alleged threats, fear and sustained mental pressure ultimately drove him to take the extreme step.
Police Say Allegations Yet to Be Verified
Station House Officer Kartar Singh said the matter is sensitive and that investigators are examining every aspect of the case.
"It would not be appropriate to comment before the investigation is complete. The veracity of the allegations made in the note can be ascertained after the investigation," he said.
Police have not confirmed the identity of the individuals named in the note or verified the allegation that one of them was involved in espionage.
Former councillor Paramjeet Kaur, whom Amar Singh referred to as his sister in the suicide note, said he had contacted her three days before his death. According to Kaur, Singh complained of continuous harassment by certain individuals and appeared to be under significant stress due to alleged threatening phone calls.
Police are examining the contents of the suicide note and other evidence as part of the investigation. Officials have not announced any arrests or filed charges in connection with the allegations. Authorities have reiterated that the claims contained in the note will be verified through the investigation before any conclusions are drawn.
