New Delhi, August 15: In the latest development, Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Chief Arvind Kejriwal has refused to accept the resignation of Ashutosh. In his tweet, Kejriwal said that he could not accept Ashutosh’s resignation, at least not in this birth. Ashutosh was once seen as a close confidant of the Delhi CM. The AAP leader cited personal reasons to resign from the post.

According to media reports, Ashutosh resigned from the party over his differences with Kejriwal that emerged during Rajya Sabha elections in Delhi last year. Ashutosh was considered as a strong contender for a Rajya Sabha berth, but he refused to contest elections as the AAP chief also picked Sushil Gupta, a former Congress politician, as one of its three candidates for Rajya Sabha.

Ashutosh opposed to Gupta’s nomination, but Kejriwal ignored him and later nominated chartered accountant ND Gupta in place of Ashutosh. As per reports, he was upset with the party leadership and the Delhi CM. Earlier in the day, the AAP leader tweeted, “Every journey has an end. My association with AAP which was beautiful/revolutionary has also an end. I have resigned from the party (and) requested (it) to accept the same."

Ashutosh also termed it a ‘very very personal’ reason to resign for the party. He was associated with IBN7, of the TV18 Group, as Managing Editor. Ashutosh contested the Lok Sabha elections from Chandni Chowk constituency but lost to BJP's Harsh Vardhan.
