New Delhi, September 4: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday launched a scathing attack on the Congress and said some leaders within the party have humanised Naxals, adding that the “Congress can go to any extent and play with national security for politics”.  During a press conference in the national capital, BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra said that Congress leaders have often been found indulging in acts that would mean 'romanticising the Naxalism'.

Patra took a dig at senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh and said Congress needs to issue a convincing explanation on certain matters. "The biggest example of this was the National Advisory Council (NAC) by Congress, which was the brainchild of Sonia Gandhi & closest to her. That body was the ground for supporting Naxalism", Patra said.

Taking a jibe at Digvijay Singh, Patra said Digvijay Singh's phone number has come up in documents found in anti-Naxal raids. "In this regard, you can contact our friend on this ..... number. This phone number belongs to none other than Rahul Gandhi's mentor and Congress leader Digvijay Singh. Digvijay Singh hasn't clarified that it's not his number & thus, has accepted that it's his".

To this, Digvijay Singh said if his number has come up in the raids, the government should arrest him. Singh claimed that first, the BJP called him anti-national and now says that he has links with the Naxals. "Agar aisa hai, to mujhe sarkaar giraftar kare. Pehle deshdrohi, ab Naxali. Isiliye, yahin se giraftar mujhe karaiye", Singh said.

Patra said a letter between two comrades Surendra and Prakash of 25 Sept 2017 has been found in recent raids. "A line in letter reads, 'Congress leaders are very much willing to assist in this process & have also agreed to fund further agitations whenever such opportunities arrive'", Patra said.
