Chandigarh, January 25: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) raided the residence of former Haryana chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Friday morning. The CBI raided Hooda's home in Rohtak in connection with the Gurugram land grab case. According to reports, Hooda was present at his residence when the raids began early on Friday morning. The CBI conducted raids at more than 30 places in Delhi-NCR region in connection with alleged land scam case.

Hooda had last month said that there was no substance in the land-grab case lodged against him and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi's son-in-law Robert Vadra, and had alleged that the case was being dragged out due to political motives of the current government. Bhupinder Singh Hooda Claims Land Grab Case Is Baseless, Being Dragged Out for Political Motives.

"This is on the basis of a private complaint lodged at the behest of the government. There is no case, the government is behind this, it is only trying to defame us. We have not given an inch of land to anyone," Hooda had said.

The Haryana Police last month got a nod from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led state government to investigate the land-grab case. Gurugram Police Commissioner KK Rao confirmed the government's approval, saying that the investigation into the case was underway.
