Ranchi, November 29: In what is likely to be a grand Opposition show of strength, leaders of several anti-BJP parties have decided to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Jharkhand Chief Minister-designate Hemant Soren. The 44-year-old leader, son of former CM and Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) president Shibu Soren, is scheduled to take oath at 2 pm. He would be the 11th Chief Minister of the state, carved out from Bihar in the year 2000. Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal Not to Attend Hemant Soren's Swearing-in Ceremony in Jharkhand.

From the Opposition camp, senior Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi and P Chidambaram would be attending the event. Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) lawmaker Sanjay Singh, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot, Chhattisgarh CM Bhupesh Baghel and their Madhya Pradesh counterpart Kamal Nath were also scheduled to attend.

Former President Pranab Mukherjee, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and outgoing Jharkhand CM Raghubar Das were also issued the invite to attend the oath-taking ceremony.

In the assembly elections held in Jharkhand between November 30 to December 20, the alliance of JMM-Congress-RJD ended up emerging victorious with win in 47 out of the 81 seats. The ruling BJP was restricted to 25 constituencies. Soren was projected as the coalition's chief ministerial candidate before the elections.

For the BJP, rout was stinging as the party had won 12 out of the 14 parliamentary seats seven months ago. Not only was the party voted out in the assembly elections, CM Raghubar Das was defeated from his own constituency - Jamshedpur East - by independent candidate and BJP rebel Saryu Rai.
