Maharashtra Chief Minister Udhhav Thackeray on Saturday finalised portfolio allocation. The final list related to portfolio distribution was then sent to Governor Bhagat Singh Khushiyari. Portfolios were allocated almost a week after the Maharashtra Cabinet expansion and induction of 36 ministers in Udhhav Thackeray government. According to reports, Thackeray will look after only the general administration department. Deputy chief minister and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Ajit Pawar has been reportedly allocated Finance Ministry. According to reports, NCP leader Anil Deshmukh is the new state home minister. Urban Development Ministry will be headed by Senior Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde. Still, there is no clarity if any portfolio has been allocated to Aaditya Thackeray. However, some reports suggest that Thackeray would look after the tourism ministry. In the Maharashtra government, the NCP has 16 ministerial posts, while the Shiv Sena has 14 ministers in the state cabinet besides Chief Minister. In the Maha Vikas Aghadi government, Shiv Sena has 56 MLAs, the NCP has 54 MLA, while the Congress has 44 lawmakers. After a month-long political drama, Uddhav Thackeray was chosen as the leader of the Maha Vikas Agadi’. He was sworn in as the CM of the state on November 26, 2019. On December 30, Uddhav’s son Aaditya Thackeray also took ministerial oath.
