New Delhi, July 14: Indian National Congress leader and Punjab Minister Navjot Singh Sidhu resigned from Punjab cabinet after a feud with chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh. In a letter, dated back to June 6, Sidhu wrote, "I hearby resign as minister from the Punjab cabinet." Tweeting a copy of letter cricketer-turned-politician said, "My letter to the Congress President Shri. Rahul Gandhi Ji, submitted on 10 June 2019."

Last month, after the cabinet reshuffle, the former cricketer's portfolio was changed from Local Bodies to Ministry of Power and Renewable energy. Since then, Sidhu has not assumed office after devested from the previous position.  There were also cold war between Amrinder Singh and Sidhu, the duo were spotted targeting each other on many occassion. Earlier posters emerged in Punjab's Mohali district, questioning Sindhu on when he is quitting politics. According to a picture shared by news agency ANI, a poster read, "When are you quitting politics??? Meanwhile, during the 2019 Lok Sabha Elections campaign, Sidhu had made a promise that he will quit politics if Congress President Rahul Gandhi loses from Amethi parliamentary seat. However, Rahul Gandhi lost to BJP leader Smriti Irani by over 50,000 votes. Following this, netizens raised a question when Sidhu will leave politics.
