Following the poll debacle, netizens have raised questioned at Sidhu asking him when will he leave politics. Meanwhile, there are reports of a rupture between Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh and Sidhu after the elections. On June 6, Sidhu had skipped the cabinet review meeting chaired by Singh. He was also stripped of his local government, tourism and cultural affairs portfolio in the Punjab cabinet and was given the Power and New and Renewable Energy Sources Department.
