Results for the Tenkasi Lok Sabha Constituency in Tamil Nadu has been declared by the Election Commission of India (ECI). Dhanush Kumar of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) has won the seat. The counting of votes for the Tenkasi Lok Sabha Constituency began at 8 AM on Thursday, May 23. This is one of the 39 Parliamentary constituencies in Tamil Nadu which went to poll on April 18. This  Constituency represents the Tirunelveli District and has 1,063,614 voters. The  Tenkasi Lok Sabha Constituency is numbered 37 in the state and is reserved for the SC category. The Tenkasi Lok Sabha Constituency came into existence in 1957 and comprises of six legislative assembly segments and is reserved for the SC category. The town of Tenkasi is situated near the Coutallam Waterfalls, at the foothills of the Western Ghats.

For the Lok Sabha Elections 2019, Dr K Krishnaswamy, founder and chief of the Puthiya Tamilagam is contesting from the this seat.  The party, which caters largely to Devendra Kula Vellalar community, would be contesting on the AIADMK’s ‘two leaves’ symbol. All the 39 constituency seats of Tamil Nadu will got to poll on April 18. Lok Sabha Elections 2019 will take place across the country between April 11 and May 23 in seven phases. The election results will be announced on May 23.

In the last assembly elections which were held in 2014, Vasanthi M of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) had won from the Tenkasi seat by defeating  Dr Krishnasamy K of the Puthiya Tamilagam party. Vasanthi had won the Tenkasi seat by 424,586 votes.
