Lucknow, August 1: Days after the road accident which left the Unnao girl who had accused Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar of rape in a critical condition, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has launched an investigation into the mishap. A 12-member team of CBI visited the accident site in Rae Bareli and collected the relevant case documents and other details from the Uttar Pradesh Police.

After a preliminary probe, the CBI team has reached to a conclusion that driver of the car carrying Unnao rape survivor and her family panicked seeing the oncoming truck on the wrong side of the road, which led to the fatal accident, India Today reported. The CBI also found out that not only the truck but also the car was over-speeding. The CBI on Wednesday filed an FIR in connection with the case and charged BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar and nine others, including the kin of an Uttar Pradesh Minister, with murder. It also registered an FIR against 20 other unknown persons. Those named in the FIR are the MLA, his brother Manoj Singh Sengar, Vinod Misra, Hari Pal Singh, Navin Singh, Komal Singh, Arun Singh, Gyanendra Singh, Rinku Singh and advocate Awadhesh Singh. Unnao Rape Survivor Put on Ventilator Hours After Meeting With Accident in Rae Bareli.

Accused Arun Singh is the son-in-law of Minister of State in Uttar Pradesh, Ranvendra Pratap Singh aka Dhunni Bhaiyya. He is the Minister of State for Agriculture, Agriculture Education and Research in the Yogi Adityanath government and a BJP MLA from Husainganj in Fatehpur. Arun Singh, close to Kuldeep Sengar, is a block pramukh from Nawabganj in Unnao.

On Sunday, the rape victim, who had accused Kuldeep Sengar of raping her in 2017, was travelling to Rae Bareli with her lawyer and two relatives when a truck being driven on the wrong side hit them. Two of her aunts succumbed to injuries. The rape survivor and her lawyer, Mahendra Singh, who were critically injured in the same accident, are battling for life at the Trauma Centre of Kind George's Medical University (KGMU).
