Uttarakhand Municipal Bodies Elections 2018: Polling to Be Held in 84 Out of 92 Civic Bodies on November 18, Counting of Votes on November 20

Dehradun, October 15: The much awaited municipal elections in the hill state Uttarakhand will be held on November 18. According to a tweet by ANI, the polling will take place through ballot papers in 84 out of 92 municipal bodies. The candidates can file nomination from October 20 to October 23. The counting of votes will be done on November 20.

Uttarakhand has 8 municipal corporations in total which include Dehradun, Haridwar, Haldwani, Roorkie, Rudrapur, Kashipur, Rishikesh and Kotdwar.  According to reports, officials said elections to 84 local bodies will be held in the first phase while the other three civic bodies will go to polls later after the reservation issues are settled. Uttarakhand Investors Summit 2018: State Gets Rs 70,000 Crore Investment Plans, Adani Group Chips in With Rs 6,500 Crore. 

Earlier in the day, government spokesperson Madan Kaushik had informed that the local body elections will be held in Uttarakhand in November and a notification will be issued soon.

On April 4, the state election commission had filed a petition in the high court for conducting early elections to local bodies in the state. The state government had told the HC that they would complete the process for delimitation and reservation on May 12. However, the high court said the elections would be held in November this year.
