New Delhi, November 1: Ahead of Diwali 2018, Twitter India wants users to choose a new emoji for #HappyDiwali for this year. Twitter India has started a poll on the micro-blogging site where users can vote for one of the three options given for the #HappyDiwali emoji. At the time of filing this story, the third option, which is a colourful replica of Diya was ahead with 54 per cent votes.
"Guess what? This year, we want you to choose which emoji you'd like to see next to #HappyDiwali on Twitter," Twitter India said in a tweet with a video showing three options for the #HappyDiwali emoji. The first option is a design of rangoli for the #HappyDiwali emoji. In the second option, people have an Aakash Kandil (lantern).
The results will be announced today. The company said that the most voted emoji for Diwali 2018 would be live and available for users to use on the social media platform from November 5 to November 9. The new emoji options are available both on Twitter and Twitter Lite.

“A Twitter emoji is a true delight for people, and it instantly brings everyone together during a key cultural moment. The objective behind introducing a poll for selecting the Diwali emoji for this year is to bind all Indians into a bond of togetherness and happiness and be a part of their celebrations with this initiative," Keya Madhvani Singh, Head of Entertainment and Lifestyle Partnerships, Twitter India, was quoted as saying.
Twitter created the first Diwali Diya in 2015. In its first poll in 2016, the social media platform asked users to vote for their favourite colour for the Diwali emoji.
