Mumbai, June 19: Lalbaugcha Raja, the most famous Ganesh idol in Mumbai, attracts lakhs of devotees during the Ganesh Chaturthi festival every year. The Lalbaugcha Raja is the idol of 'Lalbaugcha Raja Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Mandal'. Although the idol is on display for 11 days during Ganesh Utsav, the preparations begin a long time before that. The 'Padya Pujan' ceremony of the Lalbaugcha Raja will take place on Thursday, June 20. The event will be live streamed on June 20 from 4 pm in the evening till 10 pm. During the Padya Pujan, Devotees pay respect to a sculpture of a foot of Ganesh idol during the ceremony. During the rituals, flowers are placed around the foot and offering of fruits, turmeric, coconut and betel nut are made. This time, Lalbaugcha Raja mandal is also live streaming the event on its official website lalbaugcharaja.com and social media handles.

This year, Ganesh Chaturthi festival will be celebrated on September 2, 2019. In Lalbaug, there are two queues for taking blessings— Navsachi Line and Mukh Darshanachi Line. The Navsachi line is for getting a wish fulfilled while Mukh Darshan line is to get a glimpse of the idol.
