Raksha Bandhan is an auspicious Hindu festival that celebrates the bond between brothers and sisters. The observance falls on the full moon day of the Hindu month of Shravana (Shravan Poornima), which usually falls in August. This year, Raksha Bandhan will fall on August 15. The Shubh Muhurat for tying the Rakhi on Raksha Bandhan 2019 is between 05:50 am to 18:03 pm. It marks love and bonding between siblings. The festival being a popular one is a public holiday in most parts of the country

The word ‘Rakshan Bandhan’ is formed out of two Sanskrit words, ‘Raksha (protect) and ‘Bandhan’ (the strong bond). According to Sanskrit terminology, the occasion means "the tie or knot of protection". On this day sisters tie a sacred thread on their brother's wrist who in return give them gifts. Sisters also gift their brothers on this day. The thread which is called a Rakhi is considered as a promise by the bothers to protect their sisters. The festival is also celebrated among cousins, sister and sister-in-law (Bhabhi), fraternal aunt (Bua) and nephew (Bhatija) and other such relations.

And as the festival approaches, we have compiled some gift ideas that can help sisters in choosing what to gift their brothers on the special day.

Fitness Watch: If your brother is gadget-savvy, this is the perfect gift for him. A fitness tracker is the best way your brother can monitor his health and activity without having to pay too much attention to it.

Sunglasses: Gifting sunglasses to your brother can be one of the best gifts this Raksha Bandhan. Sunglasses can be used all around the year. When it comes to searching for a pair of shades it can often be a hassle, but nothing like it to make your brother’s day awesome!

Wallet: A wallet can be a perfect gift for any man because that’s one gift that will not go waste, as it is a daily necessity. Gifting a wallet can be a good choice, as you shall be remembered every time your brother takes out his wallet for anything.

Gift Voucher: Giving gift vouchers to your brothers can be a safe gift which will help him buy what he longs for. At times what you chose, may not suit the taste of your brother, so gifting vouchers can help him choose his own gifts!

Grooming Kit: Grooming kit/set can make up for all the teasing you have made him go through. The everyday essential kit will ensure that your brother is well-groomed.

The knot that the sister ties on her brother's wrist is not just a thread, but a mark of pure, sacred and unceasing love between the two. When the sister gets married, the brother makes it a point to visit the sisters’ house and get the Rakhi tied by her. We hope this list of gift ideas helps you in choosing the right gift for your brother. We at LatestLY wish everyone celebrating a great Raksha Bandhan.
