A man shocked doctors by revealing that he had been injected his own semen into his body. The 33-year-old man was admitted to a Dublin hospital after he complained of severe pain in the lower back. However, medics noticed a red rash and swelling in his forearm. The right arm had become infected with cellulitis and the medical report described it as 'dangerous'.

Dr Lisa Dunne in a case report in the Irish Medical Journal says, "He had devised this 'cure' independent of any medical advice. He revealed he had injected one monthly 'dose of semen for 18 consecutive months using a hypodermic needle which had been purchased online." Dr Dunne said that semen leaked into his soft tissue because of the injections making it first of its kind. She writes that he considered his "failed multiple attempts at injecting the bodily fluid" an "innovative method to treat back pain." Florida Man Mix Semen in Female Boss’s Drink After Disagreeing With Her Management Style.

Dr Dunne says in the past people have injected petrol and lighter fluid in a suicide attempt in the past. Her report reads: 'The dangers of (injections) when carried out by the untrained layperson are highlighted as well as the vascular and soft tissue hazards surrounding the attempted injection of substances not intended for intravenous use. The case also demonstrates the risks involved with medical experimentation prior to extensive clinical research'. He refused to seek professional medical help at Adelaide and Meath Hospital and left before doctors could remove semen from his arm.
