You must have recently read about 'Daddy stitch' or 'Husband stitch' doing rounds on the internet. For the uninitiated,  it is a stitch that is made on a woman's vagina to make it tighter after childbirth. And the reason it is called 'Daddy stitch' is that it is meant to make the vagina tighter so that the husband or (as the name suggests) the father of the child born can enjoy having sex with the woman.

Usually, a loose vagina or a vagina that has lost its elasticity is deemed to be a problem in the sexual life of the couple after childbirth. To solve this problem, some hospitals offer to perform a husband stitch or daddy stitch by putting in an extra stitch in the vagina  after a normal birth, supposedly to tighten the vagina for the increased pleasure of a male sexual partner.

But don't confuse this with episiotomy, which is a surgical cut made at the opening of the vagina during childbirth, to help difficult deliveries and prevent rupture of tissues to cause the woman undergoing childbirth pain and injury is stitched back once the baby is born.

Daddy stitch has been around for a while now, but is now considered misogynistic by some because it is basically tampering with a woman's body for a man's pleasure. Take a look at a few reactions from a few Twitter users:

There are different opinions being formed about this procedure. Some find it harmless if done with consent and some think otherwise. However, for us it is difficult to decide. What do you think? let us know in the comment section below.
