The government has appointed Lt Gen NS Raja Subramani (Retd) as the next Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), succeeding General Anil Chauhan on May 30. A veteran of the Garhwal Rifles with 40 years of service, he has led the Central Command and served as Vice Chief. He is an expert in operational dynamics on India's borders.
