India Meteorological Department (IMD) on October 3 confirmed that a deep depression over the northeast Arabian Sea has intensified into Cyclone Shakhti. Expected to strengthen into a severe cyclonic storm in 24 hours, the system may trigger rough seas, squalls, and localised flooding along Gujarat and north Maharashtra coasts.
