The BMC has announced a 10 per cent water cut in Mumbai starting May 15 due to low lake levels, currently at 28.35 per cent. With a below-normal monsoon predicted due to El Niño, Commissioner Ashwini Bhide stated the cut is necessary to stretch supplies until August 17, pending state approval to use emergency dam reserves.
