The incident occurred in Kabri village under the Hindoli police station area after the individual was caught posing as a government official to extort money from women by promising benefits from welfare schemes. On Saturday, a youth identified by police as Manraj Prajapat, a resident of Rein village, arrived in Kabri claiming to be a Village Development Officer (VDO).
