The Mumbai Police on Tuesday, May 5, constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe a massive racket involving the issuance of over 87,000 alleged bogus birth certificates. The investigation follows findings that municipal records were manipulated between 2024 and 2026, reportedly to provide official documentation to illegal foreign nationals.
