In a landmark step to curb digital misinformation, the Karnataka government will table the Misinformation and Fake News (Prohibition) Bill, 2025. The draft law proposes up to seven years in jail and INR 10 lakh fine for spreading fake news on social media, aiming to protect public harmony and democratic integrity.
