A court in Uttar Pradesh's Shravasti recently sentenced a man to life imprisonment for raping a seven-year-old girl. Notably, he was awarded the sentence 9 years after he was convicted in another case of child rape but was acquitted by the Supreme Court. The court said the accused will have to undergo an additional sentence if he does not pay a fine of INR 3 lakh.
