In a major push to upgrade long-distance rail travel, Indian Railways is preparing to launch India’s first-ever Vande Bharat sleeper train on the Guwahati–Kolkata (Howrah) route in January 2026. The new overnight semi-high-speed service will significantly improve connectivity between Northeast India and West Bengal.
